About Us
I am Paul Otter the owner of Otter Interiors. I have been in the business for over 30 years and in business for 25. After completing an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery and gaining vocational qualifications with The City and Guilds of London (I hold their licentiateship) and professional qualifications with The Chartered Institute of Building, I spent time in site management.

I now specialise mostly in domestic private work, repairing old buildings, making bespoke furniture and general property maintenance.

I offer a free initial feasibility study and no obligation quotations (a quotation is a fixed price, an estimate is an idea of what the cost may be). Costings for any extra work which may crop up will be agreed before commencement.

I appreciate that having someone working in or on your property may be a concern and I am always as clean and tidy as possible, I never have a loud radio and I do not smoke.
With experience I have discovered that the secret to any work is communication between the client and contractor. I always ask for any variations or problems to be flagged as soon as possible so they can be discussed and swiftly rectified.

I have recently been asked by a potential customer if I was a member of any recognised trade body and I had to say no.
Surely you would expect a professional credible tradesman to be a member of at least two organisations wouldn’t you? Why?
Over ten years ago I was a member of the top two organisations and one that is now no more.
I was asked for two references for one of them, nothing from the other two, to provide details of my insurance and to pay £270.00 each. No vetting, no credit checks, no security checks.
For the £270.00 each I received the right to use their logos and a magazine full of adverts from other members every quarter. I personally think that the public are being duped into believing that some member tradesmen are something that they are not and that honest reliable companies are paying through the nose for very little.
I am a member of “” and “Rated People”. My builder ask for references and insurance details and have an ongoing customer comments method of vetting. Rated People have the customer comments method and use several vetting companies (they do not advertise this and I only found out after emailing their CEO).
So in short I have been vetted by organisations who are reliable and providing a credible service but there is no way I can advertise the fact.
Details of my insurance can be provided on aplication
